EL HAMMA BUSINESS CENTER IN ALGIERS, ALGERIA
National Library, administrative offices, and a luxury hotel. All of this in a single building complex. These are three of the structures that are part of the El Hamma Business Center in Algiers, Algeria.
The construction of the new National Library of Algeria is an international landmark both for the vast amount of works intended to be preserved and for the number of readers it can accommodate. The building spans over an area of more than 60,000 m² across 13 floors and has been built in line with the most modern seismic standards. The functionality of the spaces guided the architectural project: the library has a storage capacity of 8 million works and can host about 2,300 visitors.
The library is technologically advanced, utilizing the latest techniques for the conservation and preservation of books, and features efficient computerized volume management. The library also includes a 160-seat auditorium, eleven elevators, and research rooms.
