CHURCHILL HOSPITAL, OXFORD - NEW ONCOLOGY CENTRE, UNITED KINGDOM
"A state-of-the-art center born in one of the darkest moments in history. The hospital center named after Clementine Churchill, wife of Winston, was established in 1940 as a facility for treating those injured during the bombings of World War II.
Over the years, Churchill Hospital has evolved into a university clinic, specializing as a center for oncology research and treatment, as well as developing specialized departments in kidney transplants, diabetology, endocrinology, dermatology, hemophilia, infectious diseases, thoracic medicine, medical genetics, and palliative care.
Construction of the new oncology center began in 2005. The new complex occupies a total area of 33,400 m², housing 10 operating theaters, 6 linear accelerators, 2 MRI units, and 6 units of digital general radiology. It includes 2 cardiovascular laboratories, 2 CT scanners, 3 units of digital mammography, and 2 fluoroscopy units, totaling 233 new beds.
The new Churchill Hospital is considered a cutting-edge center for radiology and radiotherapy. It features innovative solutions for energy efficiency, architectural elegance, spacious internal courtyards, and winter gardens available to patients and visitors."
