Parma - La Spezia, "Pontremolese" Route Railway Line, Italy

PARMA-LA SPEZIA, “PONTREMOLESE” ROUTE RAILWAY LINE, ITALY
A new national route to promote the development of Tyrrhenian ports and provide another option for citizens' travel. This is the goal of the modernization project for the railway route, called "Pontremolese," between Parma and La Spezia, which spans approximately 120 kilometers. The execution of the works provides an alternative to the Milan-Bologna-Florence-Rome line and promotes the development of freight traffic through the Tyrrhenian ports of La Spezia and Livorno.
Along the railway, natural and artificial tunnels, viaducts and overpasses, stations, and technical buildings were also constructed, as well as a large container sorting yard in S. Stefano Magra. Except for the first section between La Spezia and S. Stefano Magra, the entire route has been upgraded to allow trains to reach speeds of 170 km/h.
