PALERMO - CATANIA - MESSINA HC RAILWAY LINE, NUOVA ENNA - DITTAINO SECTION, ITALY
The New Enna-Dittaino section is part of the High-capacity Palermo-Catania-Messina line, one of the most important Webuild projects for sustainable development and mobility in southern Italy.
It consists of 15 km of new high-capacity railway line, almost all of which will be built in tunnels and viaducts, with 3 tunnels covering 8.5 km of the line and 5 viaducts totalling 2 km. The works also include the construction of the New Enna station and the renovation of the Dittaino station.
The project adopts innovative solutions to minimise the environmental impact of the worksites on the area. One of the key strategies is the implementation of advanced circular economy processes. For example, approximately 99% of the aggregates produced during excavation will be reused, reducing the need for disposal and contributing to the conservation of natural resources.
The project also includes dedicated systems for the recovery and reuse of process water and rainwater, ensuring efficient use of water resources and contributing to environmental protection.
The work also includes solutions to improve energy efficiency and energy self-sufficiency through the installation of photovoltaic systems, thus promoting energy sustainability.
