Lynx Blue Line Extension

LYNX BLUE LINE EXTENSION, NORTH CAROLINA, USA
Approximately 35,000 students live, attend classes and take exams on the University of North Carolina campus every day. Not only that, but many of them commute to campus via the LYNX Blue Line from 7th Street Station in downtown Charlotte.
To meet the needs of this massive commute, Lane Construction (Webuild Group) participated in the “LYNX Blue Line Extension (BLE) Northeast Corridor Light Rail” project, which includes the extension of 14.97 km of the line and the construction of 11 light rail stations with a total of approximately 3,100 parking spaces, divided into four stations with parking garages.
A huge project in terms of size and complexity of works, considering that BLE has designed 20 level crossings and 11 level crossing structures on or under roads, railways and environmental structures.
Lane Construction performed civil and roadway works on Segments B and C of the Blue Line Extension, improving the structure for the subsequent installation of the final 4.8 km of track, most of which is along the central portion of Tryon Road in the heart of Polk County.
