Frontieră-Curtici-Simeria Railway

FRONTIERĂ-CURTICI-SIMERIA RAILWAY (LOTS 2A, 2B AND 3), ROMANIA
The project to rehabilitate the Frontieră-Curtici-Simeria border railway line, part of Pan-European Corridor IV through Romania, is an important step towards developing and promoting sustainable mobility. It will promote the movement of people and goods on an environmentally friendly mode of transport such as rail, thus reducing the environmental impact compared to traditional road transport.
Lots 2A and 2B provide for the rehabilitation of approximately 80 kilometres of this important railway artery. Eleven stations, 30 bridges and one tunnel will be built, providing a modern and efficient infrastructure that promotes the use of rail as the preferred mode of transport. In addition, the ERTMS signalling and telecommunications system will ensure the safety and efficiency of services along the entire line.
Lot 3 aims to rehabilitate an additional 40 km of the 614 km Radna-Simeria section between Gurasada and Simeria. This will include the construction of some 20 bridges to facilitate transit, the electrification of the line and the installation of the ERTMS signalling system. In addition to renovating existing stations, minor works will be carried out to improve the overall experience for passengers and freight operators.
