Linea Ferroviaria Caransebes -Timisoara - Arad, Lotto 3, Romania

CARANSEBES-TIMIŞOARA-ARAD RAILWAY LINE, LOT 3, ROMANIA
Doubling of the tracks, 3 railway stations, 5 bridges, and 4 road overpasses. These are the works characterizing Lot 3 of the modernization project for the Caransebes-Timişoara-Arad railway line in western Romania.
The objective of the project is to enhance the connections between the capital Bucharest and the western part of the country, as well as the rest of the European continent. The construction sites are part of the broader "Operational Programme for Large Infrastructure (POIM)," and once completed, they will increase the transit speed and railway traffic capacity between Bucharest and Timişoara.
Commissioned by Compania Naţională de Căi Ferate CFR SA, on behalf of the Romanian Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the contract includes the design and execution of works for about 14 km of railway line, without interrupting the service on the existing route. On the new line, passenger trains will travel at a speed of 160 km/h, while freight trains will reach 120 km/h.
The project is part of the Rhine-Danube Corridor of the TEN-T, the trans-European transport network, an initiative of the European Union to promote and enhance sustainable mobility for goods and people within the EU, favoring rail transport over road transport. The realization of the entire project will involve 600 direct and indirect workers.
