ONTARIO LINE - PAPE TUNNEL E UNDERGROUND STATION (PTUS), CANADA
Taking 28,000 cars off the road every day while saving a significant amount of CO2 and 7.2 million litres of fuel is possible thanks to the new Ontario Line rapid transit line in the heart of Toronto. The new line will extend across the entire Canadian city - where the population is expected to rapidly grow from the current 6 million to over 8 million by 2030 - and will reduce travel times on the route to less than 30 minutes compared to the current 70 minutes. The Ontario Line will extend for 15.6 kilometers with 15 stations, 6 intermodal hubs, and over 40 connections with existing subway lines, light rail transit, regional rail lines, and bus services.
Webuild leads a joint venture for the construction of the 'Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations (PTUS)' section of the Ontario Line. The project includes the design, construction, supply, and management of three kilometers of twin tunnels, two underground stations, the interface with the Toronto Transit Commission subway, and related works.
The Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations (PTUS) project, which includes the design and construction of the line itself and the station, is Webuild's third sustainable mobility project in Canada.
The Webuild Group is also involved in the construction of the Ontario Line through the projects: Rolling Stock, Systems, Operations and Maintenance (RSSOM), which includes the design, implementation of signaling, communication, and safety systems, supply of rolling stock, and the management and maintenance of the line; and the Hurontario project, with the Mobilinx consortium, for the construction of an 18-kilometer light rail line near Toronto, along Hurontario Street.
