Ontario Line, Canada

ONTARIO LINE, CANADA
Imagine taking 28,000 cars off the road every day: is it possible? And if so, how? And finally, how much would it benefit the environment in terms of emissions?
There is an answer to all these questions, and it is the Ontario Line sustainable mobility Project, new rapid metropolitan line that will run through the centre of Toronto (Canada), connecting the Ontario Science Centre, in the north-east of the city, with Exhibition/Ontario Place, in the south-west, on the shores of Lake Ontario.
Webuild Group is involved in the RSSOM (Rolling Stock, Systems, Operations and Maintenance) lot for the design and construction of signaling, communication and safety systems, supply of rolling stock and the subsequent management and maintenance of the Ontario Line.
The line, half of which will be underground, will be 15.6 km long, with 15 stations and more than 40 connections to existing subway, regional and bus lines, enhancing sustainable mobility in the city.
And sustainability is at the heart of this project: it is estimated that it will contribute to an overall reduction in CO2 emissions, with a reduction in traffic of 28,000 cars per day and an annual saving of 7.2 million litres of fuel. In addition to the environmental benefits, the project will also have a social impact, creating thousands of jobs per year and contributing to the economic growth of the region.
