Milan's doors
The postern (pusterla or postierla in Italian) was a secondary door or gate used by the patrol guards as a hidden entry point, or as an emergency exit. Pusterla was the name given to the minor doors in Milan's medieval city walls.
The Pusterla dei Fabbri was built in the XIV century. Its demolition at the beginning of the 20th century was highly controversial, as it was the sole example of a pusterla among the six main gates.
