A4 Highway - Mestre Bypass, Italy

A4 HIGHWAY - MESTRE BYPASS, ITALY
Pianiga - Quarto d'Altino itinerary in the Padua - Treviso - Venice area is an important alternative to the Mestre ring road. With a total length of approximately 33 km, the motorway is designed to clearly separate the through traffic flows from those directed to the urban system of Mestre Venice, thus improving the overall fluidity of traffic in the highly urbanized area.
The highway lanes - three lanes in each direction plus an emergency lane - occupy a minimum space of 32.5 m, optimizing the use of land without compromising the efficiency and safety of transit. The project includes several crucial works. There are 8 trench sections, 7 of which are partially covered, with artificial tunnels that extend for approximately 9.5 km in total. These structures, which include tunnels with lengths varying between 100 and 445 m, are designed to integrate harmoniously with the urban environment. The project also includes 14 embankment sections, covering approximately 22 km, and the construction of 4 viaducts totaling approximately 1.5 km. Additional elements include 4 artificial tunnels made of precast concrete monoliths under existing railway lines, 4 river crossings with single-span bridges, and numerous motorway overpasses and underpasses. The project is completed by 3 siphon works to cross existing waterways, 3 intermediate motorway toll booths and 3 interconnections with the A4 and A27 motorways, including the installation of new barriers to guarantee safety and optimal traffic management along the entire tracked.
