MONTJOVET HYDROELECTRIC PLANT, ITALY
The Montjovet hydroelectric power plant is located in the municipality of Montjovet in the Aosta Valley, situated along the Dora Baltea River.
It is a run-of-river plant that utilizes the waters of the Dora Baltea, with a total catchment area of 2,414 km². The open-air diversion canal is 331 meters long, with a cross-section of 108 m².
The project also included the expansion of the open-air diversion tunnel, which reached 3,951 meters in length, with a cross-section of 47 m². The plant was built by Costruzioni Umberto Girola, which later became part of the current Webuild Group, between 1962 and 1965.
The plant was automated in 1994 and is remotely controlled from Pont-Saint-Martin.
