Acerenza Dam, Italy

ACERENZA DAM, ITALY
The Acerenza Dam, located in the eponymous municipality in Basilicata, is a structure built to intercept the Bradano River. Completed in 1984, the dam has a height of 55.16 meters and a maximum retained height of 52.40 meters. The dam's crest extends for 760 meters. The watershed directly intercepted by the dam covers an area of 142 km². The reservoir is fed by the Trivigno weir on the Basento River, which has a watershed of 405 km², and by the Trivigno-Acerenza and Acerenza-Genzano conduits. The maximum reservoir level is 457meters above sea level, with a water surface area of 2.25 km². The maximum regulation level is 454.50 meters above sea level, corresponding to a water surface area of 1.84 km², while the minimum regulation level is 424meters above sea level, with a surface area of 0.53 km². The dam is designed to annually regulate flows used for irrigation.
The Acerenza Dam reservoir is essential for irrigating the surrounding lands and supplying potable water to the local population.
The structure has a volume of 38,400,000 m³, and the created watershed covers an area of 142,000,000 m².
In addition to the dam, discharge works have been constructed, including a bell-shaped surface spillway on the left riverbank and a bottom discharge outlet on the right riverbank.
