Liscione Viaduct, Italy

LISCIONE VIADUCT, ITALY
An infinite viaduct. A highway floating between the mountains. A majestic work for its size and its impact on transport. The Liscione Viaduct is one of the most important works of its kind ever built in Italy: a 5 kilometers long viaduct with 88 spans of 34 meters in length and another 25 spans of 70 meters in length.
A work built between the 60s and 70s, during the Italian economic boom, when large works were an integral part of the country's economic rebirth. The work is located in the Molise region and is truly spectacular, because in addition to crossing the mountains, it also crosses Lake Guardialfiera, i.e. 1,043 km² and 173 million m³ of water. A work that is still at the service of hundreds of thousands of commuters who use the road to travel within and beyond Molise.
