BATTIPAGLIA-REGGIO CALABRIA RAILWAY, ANGITOLA VIADUCT, ITALY
The Angitola viaduct is a long reinforced concrete viaduct on the Battipaglia - Reggio Calabria railway that spans the valley of the Angitola river, in the territories of the municipalities of Francavilla Angitola and Pizzo Calabro, in Calabria.
Constructed between 1967 and 1970, it is 1,131 m long. It consists of two different structural types: the first includes 22 spans with 35 m clear beams supported on box piers, the second includes 8 portal spans with a clear span of 44 m each, set into box foundations.
The Angitola viaduct is part of the first batch of works for the Eccellente-Rosarno variant, which also included other notable structures such as the double-track S. Caterina tunnel, the double-track Carcarella tunnel, and two overpasses on the Salerno-Reggio highway, one at Eccellente and one at Marinella.
