VALDESIA - SANTO DOMINGO AQUEDUCT, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
The contract for the construction of the Valdesia - Santo Domingo Aqueduct included the design, construction, and commissioning of the work carried out to supply water to the Dominican capital.
Among the main works completed were 2 submerged intake structures built into the body of the Valdesia Dam on the Nizao River, from which the reservoir supplies the water used by the plant; 42 km of double reinforced concrete piping laid in a trench; 3 km of metal piping; a water treatment plant capable of processing 6.3 m³ of water per second; 3 steel pipe bridges for crossing the Yubazo, Nigua, and Haina rivers; a distribution tower; and associated auxiliary works.
In a plant, specifically built for this project, achieved an average production of 30 pipes per day, each 7 m long, with an internal diameter of 1.7 m and a thickness of 15 cm.
