Adiyan waterworks phase II, Nigeria

ADIYAN WATERWORKS PHASE II, NIGERIA
The importance of drinking water to human life is undeniable: it supports the vital functions of the human body, and access to it is essential for survival.
The water treatment plant under construction in Adiyan, near Lagos, on the banks of the Ogun River, therefore has a significant social impact. It consists of a system of vertical pumps to convey raw water into a spherical cast-iron pipeline about 8 km long and 1,600 mm in diameter.
Despite the size of the project, with over 350,000 m3 of excavation, 100,000 m3 of concrete and 245,000 m3 of backfill, its operation is simple and straightforward. The pipeline will transport the water to the drinking water plant, where it will be treated through various stages, including filtration and disinfection. The water is then pumped from a pumping station into two circular reservoirs and fed into the aqueduct.
This plant, with a drinking water capacity of 320,000 m3/g + 5% pressure drop, was designed with social and environmental sustainability in mind, as it requires low energy consumption.
A drinking water plant that is certainly unique in Africa.
