SR 408 Conway Road-Oxalis Drive

SR 408 CONWAY ROAD-OXALIS DRIVE, FLORIDA, USA
Upgrading toll facilities, six new bridges, new lane configurations, and a renewed drainage system are just some of the highlights of the reconstruction works on SR 408 Conway Road to Oxalis Drive in Florida, one of the main arteries in the Orlando area with daily traffic of over 130,000 vehicles.
Lane Construction (Webuild Group) managed over 60% of the project works, including the laying of 28,200 CY of concrete and 66,151 tonnes of Superpave asphalt, excavation of 223,097 CY, and installation of approximately 15 miles of pipelines and conduits.
A unique feature of the project is the addition of precast concrete encasements for each of the five bridge overpasses spanning local roads. The prefabricated panels are supported by cast-in-situ foundations, walls, and columns, or in some cases by pillars anchored to the bridge. Each panel is unique in terms of size and anchoring positions and is custom-made.
The existing toll barrier crossing the mainline of the expressway presented a delicate challenge for traffic maintenance. The project facilitates traffic flow with updated toll structures while simultaneously enhancing road safety with new lane configurations. Construction works, carried out during the night, were designed to minimize impact on motorists.
