Santiago "East - West" Highway, Chile

SANTIAGO "EAST - WEST" HIGHWAY, CHILE
This is a central work concerning the construction, maintenance, and management of the urban routes Costanera Norte and Avenida Kennedy. The concession of the "Sistema Oriente-Poniente" road project has allowed the development of roads crossing from east to west through the city of Santiago, Chile. It's a crucial step to meet the needs of improving the internal transportation system of the capital city, which has a population of nearly six million inhabitants.
Thanks to this project, it has been possible to make the connection between the northeast of the capital, western neighborhoods, downtown, and the airport more efficient. The original route perimeter was modified, originally planned to cross through the city center, by constructing the project under the bed of the river that runs through the city, the Mapocho River. The project involves the construction and maintenance of 5 km of local roads with 2 lanes in each direction, the construction and maintenance of 31 overpasses, the construction and maintenance of 7 km of tunnels with 3 lanes in each direction in the central section, 4 km of which are excavated under the bed of the Mapocho River.
In addition to these aspects, it includes the construction and maintenance of 410 meters of viaduct in the central section, the creation and maintenance of 51 hectares of new green areas, lighting, traffic management, and road safety along the entire route.
