Sibiu-Pitesti Highway lot 5, Romania

SIBIU - PITESTI HIGHWAY LOT 5, ROMANIA
Currently, traffic on the Romanian national road DN7 between Sibiu and Pitești is often congested, with average travel times of only 61.5 km/h, which can extend to an entire day in the event of accidents or roadworks.
This is why the construction of more than 30 km of the Sibiu-Pitesti motorway is a project of fundamental importance for Romania. In fact, it is one of the motorway sections connecting the central and western region of Romania with the European motorway network, forming part of the Rhine-Danube Corridor of the Trans-European Transport Network.
The new motorway, as official European Commission sources state, will not only significantly reduce travel time and transport costs, but will also increase road safety, reducing accidents by 18% by 2040.
More specifically, the 30 km of the Sibiu-Pitești motorway includes Lot 5, from the 92+600 km to the 122+950 km. The project also includes several engineering works such as bridges, viaducts, and interchanges, as well as environmental protection measures. Once completed, the entire motorway will be over 122 km long, significantly improving connectivity and reducing traffic on existing national roads.
