Quadrilatero Marche - Umbria Road System, Italia

QUADRILATERO MARCHE-UMBRIA ROAD SYSTEM, ITALY
The Maxi Lot 2 of the Quadrilatero Marche Umbria is a strategic infrastructure designed to connect and economically facilitate the central-eastern areas of Italy, which are notoriously plagued by considerable isolation. Complementary but equally important objectives are sustainability and the quality of life of locals.
Once completed, the project will reduce travel time on the Perugia-Ancona route by more than 20% and reduce pollution in the residential areas crossed by up to 80%. These reductions, both in terms of CO2 emissions and time, will contribute to improving the quality of life of local residents, making the environment healthier and transport more efficient.
The project involves the widening of the Perugia-Ancona route by 31 km, including 22 km of tunnels, and the construction of approximately 36 km of new section of the Pedemontana delle Marche, including 5 km of tunnels. This upgrading is essential to bridge the infrastructure gap that currently isolates Umbria and Marche and to improve intermodal transport and freight logistics, in particular by improving the connection with the port of Ancona.
