MAINLINE TURNPIKE HIGHWAYS, MINNEOLA INTERCHANGE TO US 27, FLORIDA, USA
Roads linking urban and rural areas are at the heart of every country in the world, but if they are not safe and properly maintained, they lose much of their value.
Webuild is well aware of this, which is why it has been present in the United States for years through. Its US subsidiary Lane Construction, which recently won a major contract to widen and improve the safety of an 11-kilometre section of the Mainline Turnpike, a major highway in Florida.
The Mainline Turnpike, one of Florida's main truck routes, is experiencing steady traffic growth, often leading to congestion and delays. The widening and upgrading project, led by Lane, will significantly improve the turnpike's traffic capacity and make it safer for all users, as well as providing a useful hurricane evacuation route. In particular, the doubling of the number of lanes from 4 to 8, together with the construction of new bridges, tolling and intelligent traffic and lighting systems, will provide an effective solution to cope with the expected increase in traffic by 2035.
