IH-35E MANAGED LANES, TEXAS, USA
A new bridge, restoration of existing ones, and extensive work on relieving highway traffic congestion are the key points of the IH-35E Managed Lanes project.
The project pertains to phase 1 of the Texas Department of Transportation's (TxDOT) final plan for the IH-35E corridor. Lane Construction (Webuild Group) has reconstructed the entire 28-mile (45.06 km) corridor.
The construction of the southbound bridge over Lake Lewisville was a significant milestone of the project. Lake Lewisville is one of the largest lakes in North Texas. The new southbound bridge has significantly reduced traffic thanks to four general-purpose southbound lanes, two reversible managed lanes, and three southbound frontage road lanes. The bridge also offers a shared path for pedestrians and cyclists.
With a daily total of more than 150,000 vehicles traveling along the project corridor, the Traffic Management Plan has enabled staff to have safe work areas and allowed motorists to travel safely, maintaining the existing travel lanes to support mobility.
