I-405 Renton to Bellevue Widening and Express Toll Lanes, Washington

I-405 RENTON TO BELLEVUE WIDENING AND EXPRESS TOLL LANES, WASHINGTON, USA
Reducing congestion, CO2 emissions and improving road safety are all benefits of the I-405 expansion between Renton and Bellevue, Washington, whose overall goal is to improve traffic efficiency.
Specifically, the project involves widening the motorway and installing an express toll lane system, adding a total of 40 miles of toll lanes and connecting to the SR 167 HOT lanes via the Direct Connector of the I-405/SR 167 interchange. This will significantly reduce congestion, improve traffic flow and reduce travel times by providing more reliable and faster travel options in the new express toll lanes.
In addition, the addition of new lanes and the redesign of critical interchanges, such as NE 44th Street and Coal Creek Parkway, are expected to reduce traffic crashes and improve overall road safety.
But a more efficient road system also means less time spent in cars, and therefore a reduction in CO2 emissions. In addition, the project includes the construction of parts of the Eastrail regional walking and cycling trail, promoting sustainable modes of transport.
