Interstate 4 (I-4) is a major interstate highway running through Central Florida, connecting Tampa to Daytona Beach. It is a vital thoroughfare for freight and commuters, passing through major cities such as Orlando, known for its many tourist attractions, including Walt Disney World and Universal Studios.
At the highway interchange between I-4 and Apopka-Vineland Road (State Road 535) in Orange County, Florida, work is underway to relieve traffic congestion and improve road safety.
The hub, which sees the transit of over 150 thousand vehicles per day , is a crucial access point for Walt Disney World, hotels, shopping centers and tourist attractions in the area. Commissioned by the Florida Department of Transportation, the work includes the realignment of the I-4 on-ramp south of Apopka-Vineland Road, the construction of a new on-ramp, the lengthening of the I-4 off-ramp on Apopka -Vineland Road and the complete repaving of the road axis, in addition to ancillary works.
The project will use recycled materials, such as asphalt, concrete and steel, highlighting the Group's commitment to sustainability. Construction is expected to start in 2024, after the design phase.
