I-275/I-4 DOWNTOWN TAMPA INTERCHANGE (DTI), FLORIDA, USA
Interstate 275 (I-275) is a 60-mile circular interstate highway serving the Tampa Bay region of Florida, connecting St. Petersburg, Tampa, and Bradenton. Interstate 4 (I-4) is a major highway that runs through Central Florida, connecting Tampa to Daytona Beach and serving as a major thoroughfare to Orland. Both highways are vital for commercial and tourist traffic in the region.
The I-275/I-4 Downtown Interchange (I-275 DTI) in Tampa, Florida, in its current configuration was designed in the 1960s to accommodate traffic of 60,000 vehicles per day. Today almost 200,000 pass through, making it necessary to substantially modernize the route, also to ensure safer traffic.
The contract awarded to Lane involves the design and implementation of interventions to improve traffic flows and safety of the highway section, destined to become one of the main evacuation routes during hurricanes in the Tampa Bay area. The contract includes, among other things, works to widen the ramps, optimize traffic flows, update all road signs and create anti-noise barriers.
The main objective of the project is to manage increased traffic and improve road safety, reducing congestion and facilitating evacuation in case of emergencies.
