Florida's Tunpike Widening, Florida

FLORIDA'S TURNPIKE WIDENING, FLORIDA, USA
New ramps, additional lanes, improved stormwater management, and drainage. These are just some of the improvements made by the widening of the Turnpike in Florida, carried out by Lane (Webuild Group). This is one of the most frequented toll roads in the state: traveled by more than 2 million travelers every day, it serves as an important link between Miami and Central Florida.
With this project, the Turnpike has been expanded from 4 to 8 lanes, with 2 express lanes and 2 general-purpose lanes in each direction, including the construction of new toll gantries. The goal is to reduce traffic congestion by offering motorists the option to use express lanes with variable prices depending on traffic conditions.
The work included the construction of three new ramps at the SR 417 interchange and the replacement of some pre-existing bridges. In parallel, there has been an improvement in road signage and stormwater drainage management. The success of the project is demonstrated by the awards received, including the "Best in Construction 2021 Award" and the "DBE" award for the utilization of Disadvantaged Business Enterprises, both presented by the Florida Transportation Builders' Association (FTBA).
