Development of Idu industrial area, Nigeria

DEVELOPMENT OF IDU INDUSTRIAL AREA, NIGERIA
The project named Development of IDU Industrial Area Engineering Infrastructure, located in the western outskirts of Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, is one of the most ambitious initiatives for the region's economic development. Launched in 2003, it was designed and supervised through a collaboration between the Nigerian government and various international engineering firms. The district is planned to host over 200 lots for small and medium enterprises, providing them with the necessary infrastructure to operate efficiently.
The core of the project consists of the construction of primary urbanization works, including an extensive road network spanning approximately 21 km, divided into: Arterial Roads, Collector Roads, and Local Roads. These roads are designed to connect the industrial district with the main city arteries.
The road network is engineered to support heavy traffic. Each road is equipped with an outer lane of 3.5 meters for temporary parking and a 4-meter sidewalk under which network services run, including sewage, water supply, telecommunication and data networks, and the electrical grid. The street lighting system ensures safety during nighttime hours, while two main sewer collectors with 1500 mm diameter pipes and an underground stormwater drainage system provide efficient wastewater and rainwater management. This project not only represents a significant step towards modernizing Abuja's industrial infrastructure but also offers an optimal environment for economic development and the establishment of new businesses, thereby stimulating employment and regional growth.
