495 Express Lanes Northern Extension

495 EXPRESS LANES NORTHERN EXTENSION, WASHINGTON D.C., USA
Four kilometers, four lanes. This is the focus of the extension of the 495 Express Lanes Northern Extension, known as 495 Next, which Lane Construction (part of the Webuild Group) is working on in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
The new section will extend approximately 4 kilometers, connecting the Dulles Toll Road to the George Washington Memorial Parkway. The main goals of this project are to reduce traffic and increase road safety in one of the most congested areas in the United States.
Specifically, 495 Next aims to reduce road accidents by 20%, decrease travel time by 20 minutes, and lower traffic flow on surrounding residential streets.
An innovative project designed to be an example of sustainability. Thanks to an investment of $441 million, the 495 Express Lanes Northern Extension will also feature a dedicated lane for pedestrians and cyclists, along with sound-absorbing panels to minimize noise impact on surrounding areas.
