SANTA ROSALIA DAM, ITALY
Located in Sicily, in the province of Ragusa, this is an earth dam built between 1976 and 1981.
The maximum height of the dam is 56 metres and it spans 348 meters at the crest.
The project was commissioned by the Agricultural Development Agency of Palermo for irrigation and water supply purposes. The reservoir created by the dam, known as Lake Santa Rosalia, is an important resource for local agriculture. In addition to its primary function, the dam and lake are also tourist attractions, offering opportunities for recreational activities such as fishing and hiking.
