KRAMIS DAM, ALGERIA
Kramis Dam is located along the Oued Kramis, about 60 km northeast of the city of Mostaganem, at the confluence with the Oued Nekmaria , a few kilometers before it flows into the sea. Built to supply drinking water and irrigate an agricultural area of approximately 4300 hectares, the dam is a structure made of loose materials with a central clay core protected by facings of coarse alluvial deposits. The main structure of the dam is 48 meters high and 600 meters long, with a filling volume of 3,835,200 cubic meters. Below the dam body there is a tunnel and an injection diaphragm.
The Kramis Dam is crucial to the management of local water resources, ensuring a constant supply of drinking and irrigation water, thus contributing to food security and economic development in the region.
