HONGRIN HYDROELECTRIC SCHEME, SWITZERLAND
Two parallel dams generate a significant source of clean energy for all of Switzerland. This is the value of the Hongrin hydroelectric scheme, located in the Canton of Vaud, Switzerland.
Built between 1964 and 1967, these are two combined arch dams with heights of 130 m and 95 m. The crest length of each dam is 650 m. About 2 km of tunnels complete the complex.
The lake created by the dam, Lac de l'Hongrin, has a maximum volume of 53.2 million cubic meters, a length of 2.7 km, and a maximum altitude of 1255 m above sea level.
