Esna Hydroelectric Plant, Egypt

ESNA HYDROELECTRIC PLANT, EGYPT
More water for irrigation, improved navigation conditions, and river conservation. All while generating electricity. The Esna hydroelectric plant, located along the Nile River in Egypt, was born with many diverse objectives.
The project involved the construction of both civil and electromechanical works. In addition to the 90 MW hydroelectric power plant that harnesses the river's water potential for electricity generation, the project also included the construction of a dam, a workers' village, a navigation lock, and various complementary works such as canals, buildings, and auxiliary facilities. A notable feature of the project is its function as a connection between the two banks of the river. At the top of the dam, a roadway was built to facilitate crossing the Nile.o.
