Daule Peripa Hydroelectric Plant, Ecuador

DAULE PERIPA HYDROELECTRIC PLANT, ECUADOR
Rebalancing the availability of water for irrigation and drinking purposes between the upper Río Daule basin and the Santa Elena Peninsula. This is the challenge that the integrated development project of the "Jaime Roldos Aguilera" plant in Ecuador has successfully addressed. The area of the upper Río Daule is characterized by an extension of 4,200 km² and good levels of rainfall (between 2,000 and 3,000 mm per year), unlike the downstream areas, thus requiring a balance in water supply between the two zones.
The dam was built in the 1980s by a Spanish company, and the consortium led by Impregilo (later merged into the current Webuild group) intervened in the 1990s, completing the project with a 213 MW hydroelectric power plant located 180 km north of the city of Guayaquil.
