KORABELNY BAY BRIDGE, RUSSIA
The Korabelny Bay Bridge, part of the Western High-Speed Diameter (WHSD) project, represents a crucial access point to the sea and a direct connection to the heart of the city of St. Petersburg. With a population of over 5 million, St. Petersburg is a city unique in its beauty and at the center of great urban growth. The WHSD project, a complex road network of strategic importance to the city's transport system, was built with the aim of reducing congestion and decreasing travel time by car.
The Korabelny Bridge, a cable-stayed bridge with a main span of 320 meters, features 125-meter-high reinforced concrete towers and a deck that rises 35 meters above sea level. The construction of this highly complex work was completed in less than three years, from 2013 to 2015. Inaugurated in 2016, the bridge contributes to restoring to the metropolis the image of a modern city committed to protecting the beauty and mystery of its past.
