A Perfect fusion of Art and Nature
In a small peninsula surrounded by the Danube, bordering Slovakia, Hungary and Austria, there's the "Danubiana", an extraordinary and very original contemporary art museum. The Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum was founded by Dutch patron and collector Gerard Meulensteen of Eindhoven, and Slovak gallerist Vincent Polakovič.
The art park surrounding the museum is magnificent. It hosts numerous works of various artists. Sculptures of El Lissitzky, Magdalena Abakanowicz, Jim Dine, Hans van de Bovenkamp, Jozef Jankovič, Arman, J. C. Farhi, Vladimír Kompánek, Rudolf Uher and of many other artists are exhibited inside the park.
From the museum's roof your eyes can take in the breathtaking scenery of Bratislava, and of the Danube (for the latter, we really suggest waiting until sunset). Its architecture resembles a ship. It really is one of Europe's most romantic and suggestive museums.
